Founded in 2000, the Fiaticorti Film Festival is one of Italy's earliest national festivals dedicated to short films. Every summer, it takes place in the enchanting grounds of Villa Lattes in Istrana, near Treviso (Italy).
The name chosen for the event carries a dual meaning: on one hand, 'fiato corto' (out of breath/shortness of breath) is the result of a short-term physical exertion (much like short films are brief in duration); on the other hand, a film with a maximum running time of 20 minutes can evoke powerful emotions in the viewer, leaving them literally 'breathless'.
Over its more than twenty-year history, Fiaticorti has stood out for the international reach of both the works submitted and the guests hosted throughout its editions. At the same time, it maintains a strong focus on the local area and the creativity of regional talent, showcasing the artistic and cinematic potential of filmmakers from the Veneto region.
From 2000 to the present day, Fiaticorti has reviewed and received over 7,000 audiovisual works from more than 120 countries, building a high-quality historical film archive dedicated to short cinema.
Starting in 2026, the Municipality of Istrana has entrusted the artistic direction of the 24th edition to Andrea Grespan—who previously played a key role in the festival's organization—alongside Sara Ricciardi and Livio Meo, representatives of Cineforum Labirinto, an association with extensive experience in organizing film events across the province of Treviso.
